Have a nice Che

Have a nice Che.

Most of a certain age will remember the iconic image of Che Guevara that adorned almost every wall and garment back in the late 1960s. I even revived it on one of my regular wesbsites a few years back as a parody featuring Margaret Thatcher.

Now comes a new spoof for the icon-icon generation as everyone's favourite revolutionary takes on the face of smiley culture. Sadly, the telltale beret has dissolved into it's own silloette and I suspect that most of those buying this particular t-shirt will probably have little clue as to the origin of what they are wearing.

Infact, looking at it as I write, it begins to remind me more of the character in "V for Vendetta". So much for that!

This kind of thing is normally in my Art Blog (see the links listing) but I stumbled across this collection in Flickr which limits my posting choices.

The actual collection features a wealth of scans from printed publications and the pictures appear in their typographical context. Most are of an era, but the astonishing realism of the art puts them in a timeless category of their own.

Pizza 2 Go

"Marijuana" pizza shop

This rather extraordinary picture comes from Taichung in Taiwan where a local pizza palour has chosen a rather curious name. The label on the drink is actually referring to the business itself and not the identity of what is contained in the cup.

What next? A new subsidiary for MacDonalds perchance? Actually, with such a leafy insignia, I sincerely hope this lot are pushing herbs and vegetarian fare rather than dead animals.

Make It A Good One

Well, the hours are ticking away and since midnight is long past down there in Australia there is no really true international time for making a post like this. This picture was nicked and dumped in my iPhoto folder, but seems as good as any other offering, showing as it does my base here in london.

What more to say? It's all in the title! With my best wishes to all of course.
